Every number on this site is sourced from a named organisation, with a link to that source shown alongside it wherever it appears. Where figures from different sources conflict, we show the range rather than picking a single number to look tidy. Where we could not find a reliable figure for a particular country or statistic, that gap is shown honestly as "no data published" rather than filled in with an estimate. This matters more to us than having a complete-looking table: a site that quietly invents numbers to avoid gaps is not one anyone should trust, least of all on a subject where the stakes are this high.
